Welcome to the website of Lower Heltor Farm. This site is maintained for friends and family. We moved nearly a year ago to this 46 acre farm on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and we've maintained our commitment to food self-sufficiency. The pigs, sheep, ducks and chickens are all kept in order to supply fresh meat for the table and J's vegetable garden will eventually provide the rest. The pages in the index on the left will take you to the different sections of this site dealing with aspects of the farm that we think might be of interest and maybe prompt you into e-mailing us. Latest from the farm. 26/11/09. Well Bella has had her piglets after about as much drama as it's possible to have. She started farrowing at 6pm and the vet came at 2am and we were finshed by 5am. We are all absolutely knackered. The good news however is that we have 10 healthy little pigglets who are feeding from mum. The Big Storm. 17/11/09 We've had it bad again down here. Very high winds and driving rain. The ponds have got torrents of water running through them at the moment. Luckily we are at the head of the valley so all the water runs away from us down the valley towards Dunsford.

The arrival of the boy george! There is another new arrival at the farm. We have now got a third dog. He's called variously George, georgie, the boy george, baby george or monster. He's an English Springer Spaniel and is from a long line of working dogs. He's going to be trained as a gun dog by RB who has high hopes that he will become an excellent shooting companion.
